I wish they weren't charging so much for a program that isn't even out of beta...ffs...

$8.52?!? For anyone with an Android device and a DSLR, this isn't even a lunch. This also pays for the released version upgrade. The developers are only getting $6 of it for themselves.

I'm excited for them that the demand was high enough that they could make some sales to compensate for the significant development effort. At this point, based on downloads, that looks like between $6000 and $30000 in sales, and we're talking about software that is starting to generate a buzz. At normal rates, $30K would pay for about six person-weeks of work. Seems reasonable.

I have searched like crazy on Android market, but am drawing a blank as to what you need to do to "Root" a phone. Is software needed? All I see is various software for a rooted hone...confused. ??? BTW, I was finally able to purchase the DSLR Software and load it, but it does not work on my phone yet. The AT&T SGS2 should be getting ICS first quarter of 2012. That will be the safest route, and likely the one I wait for. But still, how do you root?

Thank you! I did go ahead and google it myself after posting. I really thought the Android market would have a program or instruction listing, as much as it is referred to by so many Apps. I've chosen to go the safe route, and wait for my Ice Cream Sandwich to show up. But it is tempting. I use my phone for work, so can not risk losing anything on it, or the phone itself.

Titanium Backup, and you lose nothing (apps/data).

Nandroid will copy and back up EVERYTHING.

Nandroid is what I use to make backup images before I swap ROMs and it works flawlessly and it's easy peasy.

Has anybody got this to run with a RAZR maxx and a 7d ? I bought one of the cables they had recommended but i screwed up and got the 90 deg connector and with my otterbox i don't think I'm getting it plugged in all the way and it says there is no compatible camera. I'm going to try to get the otterbox off without breaking it.

I got Ice Cream a couple months ago and it all seems to work on my 40D. I just need to go use it and see when it helps.

Canon has announced a similar program for iOS and Android for the 6D! Coming Soon....

Check out this new app for android devices with usb hosting capabilities. I have been testing. It is still beta, but the functionality is awesome!! no PC or eye-fi car required. I am using with a Motorola Xoom.

Video of the app is here (external link).

unfortunately it doesn't work on older Samsung Galaxy S phones

Sandwich... Ice Cream Sandwich. Unless you went to a local ice cream shop and used some Cayenne Pepper Extra Dark Chocolate with your 40D somehow.

:D

Why is this still in beta phase after nearly 2 years?

That last 5% of software development can take 90% of the time, and many just stop there.

I bought this app a few months ago and planning on putting it to real test during my upcoming photo tour. I played around with it in the house when I got it but there was nothing interesting to take pictures of.

Not sure if this is the tight place to post this, but as the title, it seem to fit.

Bought a Galaxy S3 late last month and have been trawling for free apps (as you do) and came accros Helicon Remote (as mentioned previously). For the sake of £1.20 for a OTG adaptor lead, I thought it was worth a play - the lead was on the door mat when I got home this eveing.

It works :D

Not had a full play with it yet, but it does appear to operate the camera (a 7D). Not sure where I'll be using it though, perhaps it could be useful for astrophotography, although I do want to try the macro stacking tool.

For £1.20 I'm happy.

Lawrence
