don't try the arguement- "I'm just learning with them so I can take better pictures of you... or vice versa." My experience is not to mix ANY logic involved with models and wife in the same sentence. Keep what you do with your wife separate. Treat her as your number one subject, but don't expect her to be your best model unless she really has a desire to be on that pedestal

I'd agree it takes a women with a lot of confidence in themselves to allow there spouse to shoot models and also to be photographed. You better make sure your going to shoot your wife that you do not enhance any negative features. Her seeing that alone could put you throw the seven hubs of hell. I one time photo shopped the small amount of wrinkles my wise has.....wow was that a mistake.

when I do get her in front of the camera, she wants me to give her the full retouch treatment before she even sees them.

My wife is the opposite....she prefers I retouch the photos. She jokingly tells people that is the only way she will allow me to photograph her... sometimes I do, sometimes I don't...depends on the picture...

and if you've ever mentioned it in the past, she will remember it, so there is no hope of it ever being her idea again

It's "always" been her idea...matter of fact she was going to do it a year ago, but I talked her out of it...this year, I threw in the towel....poor me... :P

My wife would not do well here.

Whenever I come back from a shoot, she looks at my work and criticizes the models.

The nudes more than anything because they are fully exposed!

Occasionally she comes along at my request, depending on the model and circumstance.

I've run into that issue early on with other women, not my wife.

Seems women who are proud of how they look, do not want to see how they look photoshopped.

I always ask what results they are looking for.

One of the conditions of me doing photography is no nudes/semi-nudes/models etc. Certainly keep things interesting and is a pain sometimes. Maybe one day the wife will relax a little, as long as it pays I don't care but unfortunately my better half doesn't see it that way.

unless that was a life size Barbie, I'm not sure how that will give you relevant experience.

i agree.. but i wasnt caring about the portrait part of the class...

the lesson learned was lighting and understanding various shots.. like profile... it is a side shot where you see the side of the face but do not see the eye on the other side of the head.. you also see part of the lip where the bump is (sorry forget the term... something kiss????)

then 2/3 face.. where you have most of face but you dont put the one eye to the end of the pic.. you have to have skin between the end of face and eye... hope you understand what im saying...

it was all good though...
i agree with the relevance... so since most had nikon and 3 of us had canon 1 had sony and 1 had something else... something with a mirrorless setup???
he set us to 1/125 shutter... F8.... and iso 1600... way noisy.. and dark.... but it still showed the point...

Im not married but my girlfriend will come along to make my model feel more comfortable. Normally when doing a nude shoot, my girlfriend is in panties and bra because it makes my model feel more comfortable and is easier to work with. (Plus I like it lol)
