We were in Yellowstone a few weeks ago -- my 5th trip to the park. Here are a few of my favorite shots during the week.

Artist Point overlooking the Lower Falls (the first photo) is stunning in the early morning light. If you like to hike, there are some beautiful views on the Trout Lake trail in the Lamar Valley (photos 3 & 4). Also, there are some great views on the Chittendon Road trail to the peak of Mount Washburn -- the best hike in the park, IMO.

We did make a day trip down there, but this thread is titled "Yellowstone". ;) Seriously, we were there in the middle of the day, so I wasn't real happy with the light. Here are a couple from the Tetons:

I just got back from my trip. Thanks again for your tips. Truly an amazing place. I just posted a few of my pictures from the trip under "Zion+Yellowstone+Bryce Canyon Trip". Let me know what you think!

Great pics! I am leaving on Saturday for approximately the same trip!

Did you use a polarizing filter for the first pictures?

I used a CPL filter on shots 3, 4 and 5. The first shot, of the Lower Falls, was at dawn -- with the direction of the light, a CPL wasn't necessary (I tried a couple of shots with one).

Great landscape series! I love the mist rolling in in the first one, and the way the curve of the road draws you in in the last, but they're all good!

Did you see any bighorns on the Mt Washburn hike? We're leaving in just over 2 weeks and we're thinking of that hike , or perhaps a portion of it if there are sights to see without hitting the summit. (Not sure of the time factor and can't commit 1/2 day to a hike)

We were in Yellowstone earlier this month and saw about thirty bighorn sheep (ewes and lambs) on Mt Washburn. I would advise going early just in case they decide to move out as the day goes on (we were the first up there and had plenty of time to observe, as we started to hike down they were starting to move on).
