Just checking out our new (expanded/updated) Walmart. Found <this (external link)> for $49.99 ... a savings of $30 over both Amazon and BestBuy in-store.

They were set up in a separate display on the end of the camera display. Looked to be about 30 originally on display & about 1/3 gone. I was there 2 days ago and this display wasn't there.

I'm using mine to complete the backup trilogy of 1) In-the computer, 2) Out-of-the computer, 3) Off-site. I just finished key data backup plus system image. It's not blazing fast - just 2.0 - but it works just fine. It has included software, but I use my own.

I know some of you guys only deal in Terabytes, but I think there may be some other "beginners" like me who might be interested.

Amazon will often match or beat Newegg prices if you click "tell us about a lower price" and wait a bit. The current price at Newegg is $49.99 and for $69.99 you can get the USB 3.0 version at Amazon which is $79.99 at Newegg.

If you watch the daily/weekly specials at Newegg, I just recently purchased the USB 3.0 version of this for $59.99 from them for travel. Terrific deal! Also have recently seen the 1T 3.0 for $79.99 at Newegg.

Indeed the deal you are looking at is not bad - seems they wont sell anything for less than $50 these days.
Thing is that you can get 6 times the storage (3tb) in the goflex for a touch over twice the price ($115). Wont take a beginner too long to need more than 500gb.

The 1TB USB 3.0 version is now $79 at Newegg with promo code (EMCKBKE47).
