I could really use some help with this before I end up reformatting this harddrive and starting all over.

I bought a great computer and now in the process of personalizing from the previous owner. I have found a way to get my name on almost all of it, changed computer name etc etc. Now the only remnant of the other person's name is in the C:\Users\*Current User*

I cannot change the name of that file to show my name. It's probably not the end of the world, but I am afraid later on down the line it will haunt me.

Any suggestions. Again, the name has been changed and my name shows for example in task manager. The only place I see it is in the user folder.

I want to fix it before I start loading a bunch of programs from my old computer. Any help would be appreciated.

WGG

Always clean install when you buy/trade someone elses computer. You never know what's been done with the computer. Format the drive and then install. As a note, you cannot change the name of the user folder, just the user name.

This.

If it's really bothering you and you don't want to reformat, I would simply make a new user with admin privileges and delete the old one.

I found the culprit I think. There is an address book setting in the user files. It was set to my name but when expanded it had the previous users name. That fixed it.

thanks for the responses!~!

Make sure you have the OS install disk and license key in case you need to reinstall.
