Nice work on the leopard shot at the end too. looks like it was fairly dark then this was taken? 7D | 40D | 17-55 2.8 IS | 70-200 L 2.8 IS | 100-400 L | 580EX II | 430EX II | 1.4x Extender

Was the Nikon 70-300mm adequate in terms of reach...just curious did you have a 500 or 600mm with you too to reach way out there? Thanks! In the past I've used it as a back up lens to a longer, more pricey prime. Finances meant needed to compromise and I think for Kruger it was Ok around 60% of the timeas sometimes the birds and animals are closer than other parks. Rest of the time something longer would have got better quality and opened up more shooting opportunities. Difference even to 400mm can be significant in the field. 500mm is ideal, with a tcon sometimes. BrettM82 wrote in post #12889836 Great set. TBH I decided early to use the whole grass thing as a bit of a theme due to the max 300mm reach. Just a workaround to get shots, but the bush was also pretty dense in many places. Had been more rain in Summer so lots of water around, animals can stay deep in the bush rather than seek available water further afield, lots of green leaves still. Normally at this time leaves would have dropped and easier to see. https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1203740
