It's kind of hard to tell what the "real ice" is. Is this a HDR photo?

No not an HDR. That is the sunlight shining through the ice and some highlights and contrast adjustment.

Nice capture but because two objects have similarities, I would rather place a diamond/wedding ring against contrast background velvet fabric or on flower's stem to get higher contrast
