Long-Haired June Beetle

Saw these guys last night right outside my window. I used pop up flash with a pringles can with a foil scoop on the end to direct the flash down. No diffusion yet as I am still working on it.

ISO 400
Aperture f14
Exposure 1/200th

look at those antennaes! that is crazy!

Could you do a crop of the last image, are they mites under the wings (above the first segment of the abdomen)?

Just curious, looks pretty cool

I can but it will be tuesday or wednesday Im about to get on a train back to San Diego from Oregon.

I have no clue as to what those things are either I couldn't find anything on them while trting to identify the beetle.

Good series - yes they look like mites on the beetles back - fairly common with chafer beetles.

Thank you. I do have a question though about diffusing the flash. I can not afford a flash right now so I am using the pop up flash with a modified pringles canwith a cut out where the lens is fully extended and a foil scoop to help direct the flash downwards more. What would be good short of a paper towel for diffusion?
