In a lens review, Lenstip said that small format cameras will be gone in a few years. The review was in Sept. 2007.
Should I prepare my T2i for a coffin?
Why would they predict the demise of small format DSLRs? If anything, it is beginning to look like even smaller format cameras are gaining market share.

Sounds like you either mis-read the article, or someone on Lenstip is talking out their behind.

Because everyone thought that Full Frame dSLRs were going to get cheaper and cheaper and thus relegate APS-C ones to the dustbin

But thats actually not happening, With the release of the micro 4/3 system cameras and the other EVIL cameras we're seeing that there is still a huge market for sub-format cameras because consumers do desire cameras that have substantial image quality improvements over a compact without the size and bulk of a DSLR, Even a Rebel is too large for some peoples tastes after all....

I don't see Full Frame dSLRs coming down in price substantially for a long while (For a combination of reasons, production cost, weak dollar to yen, companies wanting to stay conservative and safe in a relatively unstable economic climate, etc)

Even when they do APS-C has proven itself to be another option as opposed to dramatically inferior in all aspects...

Fullframe will allways be a pro thing. Why should they kill their own cash cow. With out all those consumer which buy all those APC cameras, the Fullframes would even be much more expensiv.

Here is the quote in the Lenstip review of the Canon 17-40:

"We have to remember that the Canon 17-40 mm is a lens designed for full frame. It is a big advantage. When you buy the lens, you buy it for years. First of all, the build quality ensures long lasting operation without any problems. Secondly, in a few years, when the APS-C detector cameras will disappear from the market, our Canon 17-40 mm will still be of great use, not as a kit lens any more but as a great ultra-wide-angle lens for landscape photography and journalism."

Considering that was almost four years ago, I think you can count them out as a credible source of information.
