I like to shoot primes mostly, however i am open to some 2.8 zoom lenses. Currently, i have all the gear in my sig. I usually shoot 35 and 85mm on two 5D mark ii's. I'd like to hear some input from the community. I'm not quite sure what to add to my kit. I mostly shoot portraits and i am looking to venture into event and wedding photography.

I have about $800 i could spend, and maybe even a bit more if i save for a little while longer.
So far, I've been thinking about getting a wide angle zoom 16-35 (or similar older models), upgrading my 85 1.8 to a Sigma 85mm, adding a 50mm (either canon 1.4 or sigma).

I am open to suggestions. I've been leaning on upgrading my 85mm but I'm not sure if the upgrade will be worth the money since the 85 1.8 is an awesome lens.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

16-35L most definitely, 24-70 and 70-200 are also worth considering.

I love the 85 1.8 on my 5DII and I don't consider the L upgrade worthwhile...yet ;)

It seems like you enjoy shooting wider focal lengths, so not sure if the 70-200mm would be useful for you. Although it would be a good choice for portaits & wedding photography. Maybe the 16-35mm and then a 50mm 1.4 when you can add it to your bag.

16-35 would appear to be one you'd like. if you're happy with the results you're getting from your 85 1.8, why spend big bucks on the 85L?

hmm, i'm really hesitant to change my 85mm 1.8. I'm thinking about the sigma 50mm 1.4. is it too close to 35mm or 85mm?

yes. The differences is only about one step back or one step forward. At one point I had 28/50/85/135 primes and the most used on crop was 28/85 and on FF 50/135. So I would say consider a 135L you will be pleased.
