I'm with yogestee on this. I can't remember from when I had my 20D what the contacts look like, but it could be worth a try! Hope you get it sorted!

I would mess with it myself, because a 20D is valued about $250 now a days.

well the verdict is in. The lens flange was bent and the contacts were damaged so it will 110$ to fix . Therefore all I need now is a lens to save up for. Thanks for all the responses guys

Funny but true, the 50/1.8 is a pretty good value. :D

It was because of the shame of being paired with the 50 mm lens. Cameras have feelings, too, you know. ;)

I have shamed my 5D2 a lot without it trying to commit suicide. Or maybe I have just always been close enough.

Is it just one of the sprung contacts on the body that is stuck in and wont pop back out? On a 20D I'd give that a crack at fixing, after all if the repair costs approach $250 then you can just grab another 20D for that (maybe even a 30D).

I'm not sure that an err99 tells you much, I think it's a bit of a generic catch-all error code. So I guess it could be caused by the contact problem. What did the camera hit when it fell? If it was on grass then I'd be surprised if the 20D suffered any internal damage.

Yes, it's likely to be a connect problem. Probably the pin is bent a bit. A pencil for use with refill leads of a suitable diameter can often be used to straighten bent contact pins as long as you first have managed to dislodge it.
