The first photo is of a Red-breasted Nuthatch taken in my backyard. I think it's primarily interesting to me because I was just fooling around with too much focal length and not enough light, and I took about 30 photos of this bird in very indifferent lighting. They were all handheld 400mm f/5.6L w/ Tamron 1.4x wide open. ISO 1600, 1/80th (yeah, 1/80th). I only got about 3 usable photos doing this, but it was fun to try - I didn't want to run back in and grab my tripod
Next, a couple of images of a captive Eurasian Eagle-owl. I saw this beautiful, 5 month-old, raptor at a falconer's exhibition at our local Celtic Festival. These were taken with my 70-200 f/2.8L IS.
ISO 200, f/4, 1/500th, 190mm (uncropped)
ISO 200, f/4, 1/200th, 200mm (Cropped for aspect ratio only)
Finally,
ISO 100, f/8, 1/8th, 24mm, polarizing filter to help darken the sky.
C & C are always welcome.
