Martin,

Algebraic: You punch in "1", "+", "1" ,"=" then 2.0 pops up on the screen.
RPN: You punch in "1" ,"ENTER", "1", "+" then 2.0 pops up on the screen.

Electronic abacus. ;)

This is true, but try it on a more realistic real world problem.

How about the the angle of view of an 85mm lens on a 30D:

AoV = 2 atan(sqrt(22.5² + 15²) ÷ (2 × 85))

Algebraic:
[2] [×] [atan] [(] [Sqrt] [(] [2] [2] [.] [5] [x²] [+] [1] [5] [x²] [)] [÷] [(] [2] [×] [8] [5] [)] [)] [=]: 25 keystrokes, and don't forget to close all parentheses.

RPN:
[2] [2] [.] [5] [x²] [1] [5] [x²] [8] [5] [enter] [2] [×] [÷] [atan] [2] [×]: 17 keystrokes, and absolutely no parentheses to forget.

Now, try comparing them with a complex problem.

You gotta tip your hat off to stupid people...

So in the lobby, I press the button for the lift (elevator). Wait....wait... Some retarded village idiot comes along and sees the light on for the lift to arrive. So he presses it a few times. Like that will speed up the lift you dumb, mother****ing, utter twat. What, you have special fingers that speed up time? I want the doors to open there and then so I could kick these people down the shaft.

Happens every day, so it would be fun :D:D

i haven't used a calculator in, well, since you were born

1 win, 1 loss I think so far...hoping to get promotion at the end of the season to the Premiership, we've been close the last 2 years and Sven is in charge now and I think he knows what he's doing :)

Liverpool are ok, the Champ League was odd without them in it. As long as it isn't Man U or Chelsea winning I don't mind :D

Sven!! It'll be good if they get up!

I hate manure with a passion. So as long as they don't win, or Chelski, I'll be a happy chappy.

Need to get back in, and show the other British teams how to win the Champions League, again.

I was trying to explain to Martin in simple terms how you would input differently between the two. He has no need for it.

 RPN makes a lot of sense once you think about it. A lot can go wrong with the algebraic way.

Exactly.

Exactly what I commented. There is no need to take an extreme stance one way or the other. The reporter through the bait out there and Eli couldn't keep from chomping on it. ;)

I remember someone doing this while we both waited for the elevator to arrive. This was in the lobby of a 50 floor building which I had been in numerous times......That day wasn't a good day to annoy me......

Anyways, as we got in the elevator, I asked what floor he wanted, to which he said #38. I simply said okay and smiled......I then proceeded to button mash all the buttons I could until I hit #38 (think I hit about a dozen before his :D ). I proceeded to then get off on the first floor it stopped at and wistled on the way out. It just so happened that the second elevator had just arrived and let someone off on that floor, so I got on it and road smoothly directly to the 20th floor. :D

......Never did see him again.
