If you can, where at in the menu system can you turn off quiet mode so i can trigger flashes in live view?

With the Rebels, Live View Silent Shooting is always enabled when Live View is activated. There is no menu to turn it off during Live View as in other Canon models.
It would appear that with a non-Canon flash on a Rebel that Live View enabled will interfere with the flash firing. Canon flashes should work. At the bottom of this reference is a letter from Chuck Westfall of Canon discussing some of the intricacies of Live View Silent Shooting electronic first curtain on different Canon dSLRs.
