Hey, all; I am looking for a used flash to use for OCF and need it to be compatible with my Plus II Pocket Wizards; by compatible I mean I also need to be able to use a sync cord with it. Will a 430 EXII or 550EX fit the bill? Thanks!

As long as you have a PC to 3.5mm sync cable you'll do fine, I can't remember if the PWs include this cable in the box but if it doesn't check Flash Zebra http://flashzebra.com/ (external link) Lon has all the sync cables one could need at great prices and great service.

I have the 550EX. The 550EX doesn't have a sync port built-in so you will need a hotshoe with either a sync port or an attached sync cable (like the one from FlashZebra which is on my to-buy list). You will have to make sure to get the hotshoe that fits the flash brand. FlashZebra has them available for some of the popular brands.

This is what I was wanting to know; I want one with the built in sync port. So, is the 580EX the only line that has one?

The 580EX II has one. The original 580EX does not have a synch port. However, I bought the replacement 580EX foot with synch port from flashzebra, and the swap was easy, and I've been using my 580EX off-camera with PW II's for a while now. Another option to consider is the FlexTT5 if you want to use the off-camera flash with ETTL.
