A multi-shot panorama of the aurora reflected in the slave river rapids of the drowned as they spill over the rocks.

It was hard controlling the exposure in this shot, the northern lights were so bright. I had to tune the colors down by +20 points on the saturation scale in RAW.

Sweet image Karl.

I thought I would have some opportunities for these when I moved to South Dakota but no joy yet.

Thanks Doug, they're real active right now with some intense bursts lately. I think the most southern account I've heard of them (aside from austrailius aurora) was in Northern Montreal. Best of luck scouting the skies anyway! Lots more up there to be seen if you can get to a dark enough area!

There were faint auroras visible all the way to Kansas on the 4th/5th after that high M class flare hit.

Amazing picture. Over the past couple of days I have seen a few pics from northern Montana with the lights...more glow than actually ribbons.

Sweet!

I read today (I think it was from today) on spaceweather this morning there was some intense activity this past week.

If I remember correctly we should find out in a few days if the coronal mass ejection glances us..I wonder what would happen if it hit us full on? Interesting
