Hi Dave,

Nice shots Sir!

What lens length is good for hockey games?

The Dundee Texol All Stars are local and I fancy taking some pics :)

One word... AWESOME!
Funny thing, a friend of mine knows a guy in the UK who shoots pro hockey too.
He's coming here for a visit in a couple weeks. I can't imagine there is that much pro hockey over there?

Your hockey pics are the best exposed ones I have ever seen, excellent is the one word I have for them. Only issue for me is the frequent fighting pics and shortage of game action pics among those you post here.
I shoot hockey all the time now and I'm still learning, you set the standard for me to try to reach. Have a batch of about 500 exposures from yesterday, will post when I sorted the good ones out.

Thanks for the compliments guys, lens vary from Canon 70-200.F2.8 and a 300mm f2.8 with a Canon 1D MkII Body

The top league here is very strong and 100% pro with 10 teams each teams has 11 imports and are mainly AHL standard players, in fact tomorrow night I get to photograph Theo Fleury! Will post the pictures when I get chance.

I do have many action pics, but reluctant to post too many here cause I dont want to bore people...hahaha..., loads on my site if you want to take a look, but heres a few more general action shots:

Funny, I was listening to a local hockey game the other day, and the owner of the UK team that has Theo Fluery was visiting and gave some comments. He said Theo is the most professional player he's ever had on his team. And apparently he had an amazing first game!

As far as fights are concerned, MORE, MORE!!!!! I only wish there were fights at the games I attend, but they are usually quite friendly.

I hope you're a professional sports photographer. If you're not, then you should be. These are fantastic.

Well I am lucky in that Im a full time pro, but not lucky enough to cover just sport, but I do cover hockey for 7 months a year at least  But over here the sport simply isnt big enough to solely make a living at. That said a average gate in Nottingham is between 4000-7000 which isnt bad!

Due to getting straight away on location, for a couple of days after the game the Theo pics wont be here till early next week, but I will post some earliest opportunity.
