Went to their concert the other night with my gear. Was sitting far away so even with my 5D2 + 70-200L + 1.6x extender I couldn't really get the close ups I wanted. I also brought along my 16-35L for some wide angle shots. What do you guys think?

Great shots! Great choice on use of high contrast B&W!

This was near the airport right? Any problems taking equipment in that venue?

Definitely my fallback processing plan for all concert photography

Love RHCP - I really like the shot of Flea.

Great shots!! The B&W definitely has the impact.

Flea is proof there's a thin line between genius and insanity.

I am loving the first shot. The composition is really nice. :) Tho I would like to see that in color if the hearts were red. :)

No issue. The guards didn't stop me at all and security seems quite relaxed. Now if I had seats as great as the VIP ones I had for Green Day...it would be great. Look how close I was (taken with a P&S)!

Overall they sounded quite good. Set was a little short (about 16 songs in 90 minutes). Great energy.

Thanks. I tried playing around with it in color as well but I preferred the B&W. I'm not a big fan of selective coloring but maybe it might improve the photo if the hearts were red...
