Try an HDR on this type of shot when there is a bright sun and shadow. If you turn on your "Image Editing OK" someone could turn it into a shot you'd be proud of. Keep shooting--it'll come! 6D, G9, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 15mm Fisheye, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Nikon 14-24G 2.8, Canon 16-35 2.8 II, Canon 24-105 f/4 IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS, tripod, lights, other stuff.

I've shot the mill more times than I can count and morning is the worst time to shoot it. You want to go late in the afternoon to catch the last light hitting the mill. http://www.ronbaileyphotography.com/

Here all I did was crop most of it out, decreased the overall contrast and selectively decreased the contrast in the sky. I do like the crop a lot! 6D, G9, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 15mm Fisheye, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Nikon 14-24G 2.8, Canon 16-35 2.8 II, Canon 24-105 f/4 IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS, tripod, lights, other stuff.
