Does anyone know if the Pro 1 and G6 have been discontinued, I am trying to buy either model here in NZ but can't get them, no retailers are stocking them anymore due to them being end of line. Does anyone know if this is true.

I really want either model because they use CF cards and the same batteries as the 20D. Here's hoping if they are end of line the replacement model will also use the same batteries and CF cards.

I take photos of stuff!

I bought my G6 from this place last November for AUD$999 which was the best price around then. They still have the G6 & PRo1. but not sure if they ship to NZ. http://www.centrecom.com.au …b0d580a7efb630482fa57a464 (external link)

CanonUSA and the international Canon site list them as current models, but there's no telling what the plans are. Perhaps they're just directing their stock to specific markets based on sales and they decided the market in NZ wasn't interested in certain cameras, or perhaps duties or tariffs are prohibitive, so they've stopped importing/marketing them there, but as far as I can see, they're easy to find most places around the world.

Hi,
Canon NZ still have the G6 listed on their website so perhaps you could contact them for more information. It is also still listed on Canon's BeBit website. To my knowledge the camera is still current although I have a feeling a replacement could be announced early next year. I actually saw one for sale on Queen Street for NZ$999 (same shop I bought mine from in April) a couple of weeks back.
Other places you could try include Auckland Camera Centre, in Auckland and 'Photo & Video International' in Christchurch who still have it listed on their online store (www.photo.co.nz (external link)). Their Canon Pricelist was updated 11 October this year so is fairly up to date.

I'm, keen to hear how you go, as a month or two back people in the US were saying the G6 was no longer available as a G7 announcement was imminent (this proved to be wishful thinking) and at that time the G6 was still readily available in NZ.

I got my pro 1 on ebay a few months ago new $485.00 shipped here in the states but most places will ship to other countries.... As long as there is the internet you can get anything if you want it bad enough.... Also look at trade magazines most of them have ads for stores that ship all over the world.....US has plenty of each..
