Hi. i have tried two CF card readers. different brands and both the pins from the CF slot always get bent!

Cheaply made IMO as i have never bent the pins from my camera's CF slot! Why are CF readers prone for pins too bend so easily?

I bought one that doubles as a dock for my iPhone and never had one problem. Either it is a problem with where you are getting these or you are just to rough with them.

I've got a few cheap ones at work and never had an issue either.

I've had a cheap CF reader that was included with my camera purchase when I bought a Rebel in Korea and I still use it six years later. Are you careful inserting the card in the reader?

When you put it in the camera it's harder to bend the pins because there are walls on either side guiding the card in, but with a reader (at least mine) I push it in with two fingers so one side doesn't drop in first.

Mine recently died, but I can contribute it to my 2 year old son shoving keys into it :( lol. I'm moved on to using a USB sync cable for now until I get a better/newer CF card reader.

I guess there's them that are rough on their card readers and them that's not! :D

ha ha ha. just kidding.

I haven't had any problems with my card readers except for a Lexar FW 800 that just quit working. It is in a drawer in time out!

Several hundred thousand pics later, I still use two cheep usb readers for my laptop. Never any problem. I have had two internal card readers I installed in my desktop PC's; still no problem.

These days, I use a Delkins USB 3 card reader. I use it on the desktop and take it with me when I go out of town. I have a USB 3 express card for my laptop and the Delkins connects to it with a USB 3 external hdd plugged into the second port on the express card.

At a couple of recent softball tournaments, we used the Delkins to off load the cards from the photogs after each game. Gotta love the USB 3 speed. Made my life a lot easier to get the pics off the cards and send the guys off to the next game. Over 14,000 pics total for one tournament.

I have the 5D2. Thinking about getting firewire as that's the fastest connection I have on my macbook.

I bought a CF reader a couple of years back....it was not cheap but was almost useless as the slot for the card was so shallow it was easy to insert the card out of line. I bent a pin once so biffed it. Since then when I buy a reader I have made sure that the slot is deep enough and precisely made so that the card can only go in correctly. No more hassles!

Very happy with my now obsolete Lexar Firewire 800 reader. It has a very deep slot - indeed the card vanishes. And it's fast.

Not so happy that the current  OS doesn't support it. :(

My favourite at present comes from Sony...just a simple multi-card reader, not the latest technology but reliable.
