You say you don't shoot people much but these look pretty darn good. A few of them seem like duplicates or too close to the previous shot but the processing is clean and not overly done which is a nice change to see from someone who's new to shooting this. I actually preferred the more dramatic look on the face since there's more contrast. Having a fill light to the face would make it almost even, which wasn't really the look I was going for. Haha. Can you be a little more specific?

In a portrait you should typically have the light compliment your subject (the person). In many of these portraits the light distracts from your subject. Take for example 16-18. The light is illuminating the back of your subject, along with things behind him. It just doesn't compliment him. It makes people look at the back of his shirt first instead of his face.
