Hi all.
Photographed while in De Korte Park in Lyndhurst, NJ. Wondering if they are Semipalmated Sandpipers.

Sandpiper!

Western Sandpiper Calidris mauri? Are the bottom birds the same as the top? Difficult to tell from the lighting. Top one looks like what you suggest, semipalmated. Bottom ones appear to have more of the well defined stripe across the eye of the western variety, but it's difficult to tell from the sunset coloring of the photo if they have the red on their shoulders of if it's an illusion.

Each photo is from different spot in the park.
Couple was part of bigger flock, single bird was alone wandering on the boardwalk.
Re-posting 2nd photo that came from camera with just a resizing.
