I'm gonna be playing around and experimenting this weekend with some natural light modeling indoor and out. I'd like to add in my 430EXII so I'm looking for any tips on making the most of a single 430EXII for shooting outdoor in the mid-day sun (I know this is not optimal at all, but it's the only time I have) and indoors in a room with 3 windows that give great natural light.

Thanks, I will look into picking that up, but I was looking for some advice for the short term project at hand that could get me going. I understand the concepts of lighting and will be trying different things out. I was just looking for tips and tricks that others could offer based on what I have so I wouldn't have to spend 2 hours finding something out that someone might already be able to alert me to off the bat.

Expose desired shot to the background then fill with flash directly aimed at the subject

That's what I was figuring would be about all I could do with the very limited setup but wanted to see if there was something else I was missing. I'll be bouncing it indoors which should be plenty combined with the natural light.

Actually you can make some beautiful shots at that time. Just make sure the sun is behind the person. I really like this video.

Using a lightcolored neutral wall or some foamcore, and depending on how bright the sun is and how far you must stay from your subject, you can bounce your flash outside and get some interesting lighting.
