Just looking for some photo ideas for a nice week long trip. I"ve got too much unused vacation and it looks like Oct will be slower for me. I was going to do the usual of either diving or drinking on a beach somewhere, but I have enough time off to take a week to do other stuff and still hit up a beach in Mexico

I'm in the Dallas Texas area and I thinking of just a long road trip to somewhere. Maybe new mexico, or colorado for great landscapes. I thought there was a hot air balloon festival in New Mexico during the fall but not sure. Of if there are any places where some cool birds or animals are at would be great also.

I figured there are enough people from all over on here that they will know way more about a cool event or migration closer to them that they can recommend. Just typing in Cool picture in october in google isnt' cutting it right now.

Any idea is a new idea to me.

Good point Jon..
My parents are in Northeast Ohio where there are lots of old style covered bridges, I'll most likely take a weekend trip up there since I already know my way around, but forgot about the blue ridge mt's... thanks

Don't come to Idaho, you'll be viewed as food.

Oct the northeast is nice, Hawaii is good too.

The answer to this question is always UTAH ;)

Seriously, for photo adventures a tour of Utah's parks is hard to beat.

cheers

I've never been to it, but have seem some interesting photos from the
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (external link) which is on at the same time
as the Miramar Air Show (external link)

If you hit San Diego first, then you could hit the balloon festa on the trip back.

Kind of a long drive but Northern Michigan is incredible in the fall and if you go to the upper penninsula, there are about 200 documented waterfalls.
