Hi all,
I am currently looking to buy a Canon 60D. I am upgrading from a broken Canon Rebel Ti. I am not sure if I should buy the body only or with lense. I want to ask for your suggestions based on the pricing at Best Buy.

Body only: $899

Body with 18-135 mm lense: $1,199

Should I buy the body only and get a lense separately?

Thanks,

Angelo

You could just reuse your 18-55 kit lens (if it still works) and buy a 55-250mm. Depends on what you need.

I dropped both the lense and the body, so I'm not sure if still works. I hope BB would let me mount the 18-55 mm lense in one of their displays to test it.

They will as long as you dont tell them why you are doing it, IE if it works they get less money.

Do you have a 'real' camera store locally? I think they'd be more than happy to let you see if it still works, even if you don't end up buying there. Although our local camera store's prices are better than BB anyway, just don't get reward points.

I have the 18-135mm with my T3i and I wish I had the regular 18-55mm for it's more compact size. So I'd recommend getting the body only and reusing your 18-55 or buying a new 18-55 on ebay for $100 (unless, of course you really need the 135 mm telephoto).

Look into the Canon Loyalty Program. You can get significantly better prices that way, than from Best Buy.

Like rpaul says, look into the Canon Loyalty program. This is a program where you turn in an "old" or damaged Canon product and get 20% off the refurb price. I just got a "refurb" 60D body and my final cost was about $670. The camera, except for the plain white box could easily pass for new and comes with a 90-day warranty. You can also get the 60D with a "kit" lens. Do a search on "Canon Loyalty Program" and you'll find the details.

Canon Loyalty Program!

Just got my 60D a week ago...

It can pass for new, the only way that I was able to determine it was refurbished was
by checking the shutter actuations (around 700)

Not the easiest way, but looks like it works if you want to play around with Linux. I haven't tried it on my 60D, though, so I can't say from experience that it works.

+2 for the Canon Loyalty Program! My 60D body arrives tomorrow. I traded in a broken point & shoot and got mine for $678 shipped. I would be real happy with 700 clicks. I put 22,000 on my T1i in 12 months
