i suppose this question could go in the "general" area but i thought i would put it in here....(please move if needed mods).....

as im pretty new to photo stacking the ones i have been getting results for have been ok but on some of them there appears to be a certain amount of "ghosting"..............typical example.......if i take a series of 5 shots of say a Shield bug we all know that the little critters legs or anntenae will no doubt move about somewhat, so if in the first shot the anntenae are in focus and in the remaining 4 they are all out of focus but are not in the same place due to movement when i do the stack the anntenae will have "ghosting"...now here is my question..........is it best in your experience to go through the 4 out of focus anntenae shots and clone/heal them out or wait until i have done stack and clone/heal the "ghosts" out??...or do a practice stack and see the outcome and then clone the offending limbs/anntennae etc from the originals and then do the final stack??.....the last option seems a bit time consuming i know, but like i say im a bit new to stacking..........if it helps im using CombineZM, im on a tight buget so its a free program or nothing!

thanks for you input and advice in advance

Hi Not sure what other progs you have available but I normally cure this problem by getting the stacked photo and the unstacked photos in PS and then use the healing brush to transfer the best focus part from one of the original photos back onto the stacked photo. You do sometimes find you need to slightly resize or rotate the donor photo before doing this though. The alternative is as you suggest to try cloning out the offending ghosts just using the stacked photo.
