Have some great aircraft in town for a while. Shot these in the evening with a high ISO but I am fairly happy with them. These are just a few but more to come later.
Enjoy

Nice work!
I wish you'd include the EXIF in your images, because you'll probably get a lot of questions. ;)

When I have some time tomorrow I will, didn't realize it was stripped out when saved for web.
Most were shot with 7d, ISO 500 or better, Tv 1/120 or so. They look soft on my monitor but are very sharp when printed.

There was a lot of moisture in the air and I was lucky enough to be there.

who owns the zero I thought there was only one original flying?

"There is only 1 true original Zero flying in the world today and is displayed and flown at the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California. Several rebuilds have been almost scratch built, from aircraft similar to this one, and are flying today with American-built engines. Original Japanese engines are almost impossible to find in a condition to be overhauled. Most recovered aircraft have significant corrosion because of the salty South Pacific environment. Little of the original metal is usable in aircraft that are to be restored to flying condition. Most of the Zero's seen in movies, such as “Tora, Tora, Tora” and “Pearl Harbor” are dolled up American AT-6 trainers. Real Zeros would fly much faster than the ones seen in Hollywood films."

The brown one is also an authentic airframe but it does not have an original engine in it...

The PoF Zeke is all original.

I like the panning but feel the vortex actually distract from the Corsair

Close

Spoke with the pilot last night and there is no original zero anywhere flying. The Zeke does have an original engine but each plane restored parts including new skin fabricated from original skin tracings. The Zeke flies very little and it disassembled for long trips. He brown one also known as Kora is in much better shape. Pilot consensus last night has both of the planes as close to original as possible and is currently flying.

Great series. The Zero is a nice job of restoration.
People don't realize the time and money it takes to restore an aircraft when most of the structure is gone. We were lucky with the POF Zeke that about 90% of the airframe was intact when the work started. Sad part is when the Sakae engine goes that is the last one running. That is why She is flown only a couple of times a year at the Perl Harbor tribute and the May airshow.
