don't know if that contest is still going on but I took this shot today, had to spin my head in PS, think I did a pretty good job.

Long exposure noise reduction takes a dark frame equal to the length of the exposure you took prior. Then it takes that dark frame and subtracts out any hot pixels from the long exposure you took previously. So if you took a 15 sec. exposure, you'd have to wait another 15 sec. afterwards for the camera to take the dark frame.

If you reset the camera settings, likely this is turned 'ON' as I believe that is the default setting.

mine was off, which makes me think off is default, as i've never toyed with it. interesting piece of info tho. i will give it a try. thanks!

Off is indeed the default setting. You can switch it to 'Auto' in which case the camera will detect instances of noise in exposures greater than 1 second or 'On' in which case the camera will perform noise reduction invariably.

Yes. But, I heard the rules changed. You, now, have to take a self portrait from behind with your back hairs showing. Just thought you should know, before you waste time on a regular self portrait...

Here's mine. Think I took this the day of the contest start and thought I'd get something I liked better, but ended up liking this one anyhow. Thought I'd give it a little creepy feeling since it's getting colder, the leaves are changing and Halloween is close.

Wanted to get a slight reflection off of my axe, but must have let someone borrow it since I can't find it anywhere.

I dig it.

My favorite part of this 'competition' is that I get to see all of your faces, finally. Pretty cool.

He IS Jules. Didn't you see his resume, when signing up for the thread??? It, clearly, stated Samuel Jackson on the 'name' part.
