Hi, I had a question regarding the 60D I was hoping you guys could help me with. Is there a dedicated flash compensation button (like on the 7D or 5D)? Or do you have to access the menus to change flash compensation?

Also, how does the size/ergonomics feel in your hands compared to the 7D? The grip for example, was too small on the XSi but using a 7D feels just the right size. Is the 60D significantly smaller?

Thanks!

Not sure about a button, but I know that there is flash compensation. As for the size it's just a tad smaller than the 7D not by much.

I can't answer the question regarding 7d ergonomics. The 60d does not have a dedicated FEC button. But, there is a Cfn for it. You can set the center button (OK button), for it. I have mine set up, this way.

You can also set it up on your custom menu so it's about two button presses away. I personally don't use that feature a lot, although I did take an adventure down the fully manual wireless + pop up flash road the other day which was pretty rewarding and I got some good pics of my kid with a cheap setup.

The 7D is kind of a different beast. Takes different memory, has more advanced AF, and a few other things that move it up the pricing tree. Personally I'm content with my 60D.

Thanks for your replies guys. I've been thinking of trading my 7D for a 60D as I really don't need the FPS nor the advanced AF system, MA etc. (though they are nice features). The main things that I would miss from the 7D is just good ergonomics as well as the flash compensation but it looks like it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again.

Maybe adding a little contrast will make it more lively. Overall nice pic. keep shooting.

Cool! Don't worry about the camera for now, just focus on composition!

+1 on the composition...

here's a camera simulator to practice getting correct exposure while in computer...

practice the exposure compensation using the aperture, exposure time(shutter speed) and ISO.

70-200 L f4 IS is wicked sick. The full res version is almost 3D.
Also glad to have the complete weather sealing. My 60D + 70-200 got drenched and even dunked into snow. Not a problem.

Oh, and I got 1,700 shots on a single charge using IS and sometimes live view. Also had juice left before I replaced it.

MikeDee,

I'm shooting a lot of kids hockey these days w the Canon 70-200L. Here are some shots if you are interested in the capabilities of this lens.

https://picasaweb.google.com …u-A99jaIQ&feat=directlink (external link)

My technique has changed a little from the beginning of the album to end. Additionally, I am streamlining my LR3 work, especially w regards to sharpening and NR.

Good luck on your decision,
Rick

Thanks Rick. Great shots in there. My gut tells me to keep saving for the canon. Decisions, decisions......

So I need help understanding something. I use my 60 inside with low lights and use the awb and then use M to take the photo at like 4000 ISO and it just doesn't look that great plus it takes a 2 second shot. I then set my camera to the full auto with no flash and it uses 3200 awb and all that other stuff and looks great. I tried recreating the auto shot in M, but get no where the same results. Is there something I'm missing?
