....Sounds like a good new years resolution! I'll do every day of 2012 from start > finish.

Heck, it'll take the end of the world to stop me from finishing! Buh dun chinnng!

He, you'll see it's way harder than you think. Some people can't even stick for two weeks ;)

Hey guys, which would you choose between the Canon 85mm and the Sigma 50mm 1.4? I love the 85mm, but I just find the 50mm focal length more useful. Is the IQ of the Siggy as good as the Canon ???

I owned both and I prefer the Sigma 50. As a only prime, I'd take a 50mm any day over a 85mm. Heck on a crop, I think I'd take that Sigma 30, looks really awesome :D

Thanks David. Thinking about selling the 85 and getting the Sigma. Love the 85, it just never sees any use because it's *so* close. :/ I'll have to check out the 30mm too. When I had my little entry level Nikons I only ever used the 35mm 1.8 on them and it was fine, so I could live with a 30mm, I think.

An entry level 35mm F1.8 isn't the same at all than a 30mm F1.4. Have a look in the lens sample archive here on POTN!

Or you could keep the 85 and get the 30. Would make a very nice pair ;)

Oh it shall be done - The people who can't stick it I assume fall victim to self criticism and laziness is a result of such!

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 is the bees knees. No doubt about it.

Oh, I know, just focal length wise! I used that 35mm for EVERYTHING and never thought twice about it, LOL. That would make a nice pair, hmmmmmmmmmmm. Decisions. I need to go peep the 30mm example thread.

Thanks Lisa! Maybe next time I'm in Sac ;)

On the lens debate, Sigma 30 1.4 would be my choice on crop.

For what it's worth I've seen 24mm 2.8's in good condition go for as low as $225, but the Tamrons rarely go much below $300.

I got my 17-50VC for $280 shipped. :) PO was having an occasional Err with it, I cleaned the contacts before ever mounting it to my 60D, shot ~200 test shots yesterday and haven't managed to get an Err yet.

VC is quite effective... 100% crop, 50mm, f/4, 1/5s, handheld

^^Wow! I'm extremely jealous, thats one of the lenses I'm saving up for right now and 280 shipped would have been awesome.

Enjoy the lens =]

Well... on a sad note, I just finished packaging up my Sigma 50 for a ride to GA... Hoping I don't have any focus issues when she gets back, as she focuses dead on right now.
