The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 is the bees knees. No doubt about it.

Better than the Canon 50mm 1.4? I'm still not convinced. Plus the number of problems I keep reading about has me concerned too.

Seems like if you get a good one, it's great. But, if not......

Still, I keep going back and forth...

Well... on a sad note, I just finished packaging up my Sigma 50 for a ride to GA... Hoping I don't have any focus issues when she gets back, as she focuses dead on right now.

Nick, you're not helping the side for the Sigma here... ;)

My Sigma won't go all the way to MFD anymore, it seems to jam around 2ft. However, doing it all over again, I woundn't hesitate... I'd pick the Sigma again! :)

Reason A) My Sigma is S-H-A-R-P! - Even now in need of repair, it's still TACK SHARP! (As long as the subject is more than 2ft away, LOL)

Reason B) Yes, my Sigma needs repair, bummer; however, it's over 2 years old and is getting repaired under warranty... Can the Canon do that??

Those eyelashes look sharp enough to cut you!

I have the Canon and I'm pretty happy with it. The only drawback I hear about it is that if you put a lot of pressure and/or bump the front element into something it can cause it to become misalinged in the focus track and the focus will break and not move anymore. I keep mine in a firm lens case when it is not in use and pull the focus all the way back to infinity so the front element is fully retracted. So far I haven't had any issues with it and i've shot a few hundred shots with it probably.

Over half my collection is Sigma, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. For the price and competition, it's hard to go wrong with Sigma or Canon ...I had all Canon lenses for the 1st year and moved to all Sigmas in the next year. I haven't regret it since. :)

ESPECIALLY THE SIGMA 85...*rubs it* My precioussss.

Yup I'm slowly inching to a full sigma line up possibility as the siggy 17-50 got better reviews than the tammy...

And I'm pretty much set to get the sigma 70-200 f/2.8 and save my self a lot of money

I think that those pictures are over-saturated.

I also think it's impossible to tell from those shots, but your lens look fine. ;)

Ended up making the same amount on the 24-70/2.8L that I picked up for $800 locally! :)

Yes, you should consider a CPL filter. And don't buy a cheap one, it'll do more harm then good. Read a bit on CPL, they are really useful for landscape shots. Anything that has a sky, a car or water will benefit from it.
