Exactly. Or 4 more focus points surrounding the center.

I'm 99% sure that the center focus point is actually larger than the box, if you have a subject right next to it on center point it will lock on..could be wrong though, I haven't done any scientific testing. That small amount of recomposition shouldn't really affect your DOF plane though if you focus and then shift just slightly off.

Got my 60d today... Woot woot!!!

Freaking lens hood somehow blocks eithe the flash or it gets on the way at the bottom center. :(

The joys of lens hoods and the onboard flash with a wider angle lens :). You can:

1. Take the hood off
2. Zoom in
3. Not use the flash
4. Crop!
5. (and by far the best, but costs money) Get a real hotshoe flash, the extra height changes the angle that the light travels and makes the shadow from the lens/hood go more directly down. Once you learn to use it you'll appreciate how effective and versatile the big flashes are.

Back in the ranks of the 60d owners. I had sold mine but due to a faulty pop-up flash, I bought it back and think I'll keep it a while.

Are you sure it is faulty? Could it be the problem with the hot shoe https://photography-on-the.net …ighlight=Hot+shoe+problem ? I have no idea what the problem you are having is, but thought to mention it in case you haven't checked it out.

Ok, I'd like to change my statement to: I'd prefer if Canon put a Nikon focusing system from the d7000 on my canon 60D. The d7000 is relatively close to the 60D EXCEPT I love Nikon's focusing points. all 39 of them! lol

Well this picture sucks but it's using my nifty fifty. I gotta get some decent lighting for these indoor shots. I'm slightly ashamed to say I'm using a couple LED flashlights, some tissue, and some paper to bounce the light. Any tips on how I can improve?

Seriously thinking about getting one of these over my current cam. How do you guys feel about comparing the 60D to the T1i(500D, Kiss X3) as an upgrade?

I'll keep that in mind, most of the girls I deal with are really photogenic and friendly..it's just getting into their crazy schedule is the hard part and finding a location mostly for me. :(

I was lucky enough to pull this off in my friend's apartment while he wasn't home. xD
