You probably need the screen higher and the keyboard lower...

Both my wife and I gave up using the keyboard and the screen of laptops. (She has a MacBook Pro and I had a Windows/Linux Intelinside (now I use a desktop). We use 24 inch screens and USB mouse/keyboard).

The laptop is good for portability, but for ergonomics, you want the 'separate setup'.

Also, the keyboard/mouse go in a lower tray...

not sure this is the suggestion you're looking for david, but i use an external monitor on a stand approximately 6 inches high.
