I am using a discontinued Canon EOS D60, and the scroll wheel that allows me to flip through pictures stopped working.
Yes, I've checked the switch and both switches (main power and the switch above the scroll) are set to 'On'.
Any help please? I'm really scared this can't be fixed.

I am not quite sure what you mean by "discontinued" as the 60D is a fairly recent model.
Does the camera still take pictures? And does the "scroll wheel" work for other functions, like selecting aperture, shutterspeed or ISO? If so... shut down the camera, take the battery out, reinsert battery after five seconds, turn on and try again....

The 60D is not the D60. The latter is discontinued.

If you're using a grip, I would take that off and see if that fixes it. You can also try a hard reset (remove both batteries and let the camera sit for a while). Otherwise you might be out of luck.

Yes, it does look like I'm out of luck. Do you think there are people who could still service these? I was just given this camera a month ago and actually really enjoy it. I could probably get by without the scroll wheel working, but that's a pain.

I'd just try and live with it. I really don't think a 10 year old, 6mp dslr is worth dumping any money in to. You can always use it towards the loyalty program for a newer body.

Okay, that's probably what I will do, live with it, that is. Maybe one day we can actually afford a new camera.
As long as I don't need to change any settings in the menu, I should be okay I think.

Is it only the dial that has stopped working? Does the button in the center of it still work?

If so, you should be able to simply use the main dial to scroll through the menu.

Does the Quick Control Dial (Canon's formal name for it) let you change exposure combinations when in shooting mode? Does it let you move through the menu options? If it only lets you move through the menu options, the problem is more likely with the QC Dial On/Off switch. If it also lets you set exposure compensation in P mode, or aperture in M mode, then you've got a weird problem.

Canon should still be able to repair that - and it'll certainly cost less than a new camera. Or they might offer you an upgrade to a newer model through the Canon Loyalty Program.

Just in case you don't have the manual, you can download a copy here (external link). If you don't have the latest firmware version (1.04), it's available here (external link), and just might help with your problem (not that it addresses that situation, but a fresh firmware might overwrite a random glitch in yours).

The center of the dial works, and the main dial doesn't let me scroll through the menu, it just goes to shooting mode.
Is there something I have to do to allow the main dial to be used in place of the Quick Control dial?

I have the manual.
And hmm.
To change aperture and such, I use the main dial.
The quick control dial doesn't allow me to go through the menu options :/
The quick control dial doesn't do anything what-so-ever.. *sigh*

Hmm.. It could be that they didn't introduce that feature until the 10D.
