Just because something is possible doesn't necessarily make it a good idea. I'm truly puzzled over this one; why would anyone pay $250 for this?

The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"

$250 is pretty dumb but it does offer a rather unique look wouldnt you say.
and i dont mean physical look i mean the images have a very unique look.
the vignetting adds to it nicely.

Yep, just like images taken with an iPhone.
The question still remains - Why??

"An SLR lens mount for your iPhone! It essentially turns your iPhone into a DSLR."

Huh ???

How the hell can adding an SLR lens turn an iPhone into a DSLR??

Someone out there is looking at this and thought it was a good idea. I'm sure he made at least $1000 on it.

You do it because you know there are enough gullible people out there who without knowing the dynamics involved, would/will be convinced that being able to add an slr lens to their iphone gives them some of the same ability as a more expensive DSLR, without realizing you are effectively shooting through 2 lenses, 1 much worse than the other...

No different than photogs chasing the newest body because it has more mp's even if they never take the camera off of the green box...

A small sensor going through an equally small lower quality lens then going through another lens..what's not to love...;)

I forgot about the lens that's already on there.

I don't think IQ would be that bad but on the other end, wouldn't be worth buy a L lens just for that setup.

no they look nothing like iphone images, not the ones they posted
sure its still limited as the sensor cant resolve what the lens can but those images are unigue
i would never ever pay $250 for it though unless i was just uber wealthy and was bored

Is it just me or would that adapter snap pretty quickly if one were to hold the iphone and not the lens?

As foolish as it seems, my take is it would be a worthy tool for event Pro's and instant online uploads. Minimal size in the bag for being able to sends tweets/FB posts or other social media instant online updates. $250 would be easily worth it for a working Pro (or the employer) that covers events or has a hardcore 'following' in social media.

One of the sports I follow online is WC downhill mtb, Instant updates are appreciated but why not with better image control than an iphone?

3G for your L series. Every little bit helps when your a fan waiting weeks between events. I mean if your 300's sitting on tripod waiting for action, why not switch out the body and tweet event atmosphere to the world?

is that such a bad thing?
