Does a T3 have a separate battery to retain settings when the main battery is removed? Check your manual. If it does, it could be flat or missing, or inserted incorrectly or some such.

I don't think that camera has the battery for date & time. The manual states that if you remove the main battery for a length of time the date & time may need to be reset. If you take the battery out to charge it, how long is it before you put it back in? I have no idea how long the date & time will keep going without the main battery, but if it's out for an extended time that may be what's happening.

Also are you following the instructions exactly when setting the date & time and using the "SET" button to finalize the setting.

Megapixels and high ISO are a digital photographers heroin. Once you have a little, you just want more and more. It doesn't stop until your bank account is run dry.

This may sound silly, but are you selecting (OK) then pressing (SET) after you entered the date and time?
Sometimes it easy to forget the obvious.

Are you doing a lot of traveling between time zones and just not realizing that the time is different? I guess you'd have to be on the space station for this theory to hold water!

Pull the battery, let the camera sit a few minutes, then put the battery back in. That will do a "hard" reset. If that doesn't work, and since it seems that you are doing everything correctly, it could be that the camera is defective. What are your return/warranty options?

Seems like an odd date to me. I can't remember exactly but I seem to remember that the default date on new or hard reset bodie wasn't nearly as recent as 1/1/2011 but then my memory isn't what it used ......

Is the body functiong normally in all other regards? Does it "hold" your other custom or shooting settings when you remove battery or shut it off? Could be some overall electrical failure. Or just a defective internal battery or capacitive charge that keeps the clock and settings in order? I assume even if there is no external clock and setting battery there must be one an internal that does the job - or doesn't in your case!

I'm quite sure there IS another battery in the canon rebels as I used to own one and I could be remembering incorrectly....not the one you charge and recharge all the time, but an internal one.

Yeah I'm fairly certain there should be a tray for a button cell along the wall of the battery compartment.
