Went out for a fun photo shoot with a good friend Nicole to test out some different lighting setups. This is my 2nd photo shoot with my new flashes, and 3rd ever.
Most of the shots were done with a single speedlight.

The rest are on my Flickr (external link)

I like #4 - the lighting, mood, the focus - to me it is the best of this series

#4 seems a tad bit underexposed but those blue eyes are killer!

Like number 4 but it's either underexposed or the color temp is off.

REALLY like #4. As I've heard from many pro photographers... "When in doubt, get close".

Yeah i thought i would try a little bit of everything since Im am still new at it.
Still learning :)
I did another close up with a more stylized pp.

Also, used my new Wacom for this too. Picked up an intuos4 small today, LOVE it.

QUOTED IMAGE

Nice shots, but I think the skin tone in this is a little cold.

2,3, and 4 look under exposed - but I understand you're still learning ;) I am almost always a fan of taking a shot one line overexposed then looking at the RGB Histogram to see how the exposure looks. Make sure that you haven't clipped any of the Red Channel off and call it good. It is better to pull an image down in exposure in PP than it is to boost color.

Looks like the skin smoothing is a little over done on some of the shots as well. Make sure that when you use the Clarity brush that you put some texture back into the image. ;)

You're off to a great start however!

Agreed, #4 is well done. I think my favorite though is #3. I don't find it under-exposed. She appears correctly exposed. The darker surroundings give her a secluded look and I like the effect.
