Next stop on my east coast trip was the fantastic town of WIlliamsburg, VA. I'm trying some new techniques with some of these. They were all processed as HDR's, but then I applied some additional techniques in an attempt to fit the scene.

Jon, you must have visited the entire eastern seaboard on your trip. :D These are all very nice subjects and I like the last image best also. I might have cloned out that circular area of dead grass in the right forground though.

A couple of comments on the courthouse image. It's just my personal preferance but I think the sepia toning would be more effective if it were applied to the whole image. In other words, so that the white 'paper' is toned as well (I lowered the contrast too). Here's a quick example of what I mean.

I hope you aren't offended that I modified one of your images.

Thanks guys.

Gene, thanks for taking the time to walk me through your thought process. On the shot you revised, I first applied the sepia tone and then felt more was needed, so I then applied the vignette. Sounds like I should have done the reverse order, which would have accomplished what you're suggesting.

Yes, I would have done the vignetting first. To do the sepia toning as I've shown, I first converted your image back to pure black and white. Then I placed a new layer above it and filled with a solid color. You can open the color pallet and type in these values to get the same color I used: R=186 G=163 B=108. Then I just reduced the opacity of this layer to 56% in this case. You can put the contrast back by adding a levels adjustment layer on top and move the black slider to the right to taste.
