Not my normal genre, but I needed a creative boost from landscape work.

Yesterday I visited Fremantle (South of Perth, Western Australia) and entered the abandoned power station, a massive place. It is visited quite often by photographers, models, graffiti artists so access is straightforward.

Here's a few shots, all using different processing techniques and capture ideas/angles - nothing too original here but all new for me!! For all images: tripod, iso100, f/16.

Even though it was cloudy outside I had to fuse 2 images in Photomatix Pro.

Mask layer applied in Photoshop to desaturate all but the main graffiti piece.

5 image stitch in Photoshop. Chose to focus on the shape and texture of the room rather than the colours, so I added a Sliver Efex Pro layer.

Extremely dark long room in the basement, that I wanted to focus on the far door and the chimneys along the top of the roof to left. Required again to fuse 2 images and a lot of blending and masking to bring this one to life - it's probably too dark on most monitors but looks pretty good in large print - I think anyway :)

Third is my favorite.

Was there a turbine room?

I'm pretty sure the turbines were on the ground floor, seen in the first image. But all gone now, I think the station was closed in 1985. There's some archival images on the web which records the turbines brand new - would have been good to sneak in in 1985.....
