That would of been a good shot of the Baconator if not for the dust lol :)

as for when I shoot I prefer not to use a flash at all but I will do a bit of both through out the night, I think with the norman 200b and 400b's if your shooting at 200 watts a second or higher you can still get the wheel movement in the tires at about 1/200 sec or so, but with any of the hotshoe flashes the flash duration is so quick that it just locks everything up.

I agree about the using flash at night at the track. This was only the third time I have ever tried flash and the first that was really dusty. After I took the shots I just laughed at myself for even thinking they would turn out! It really showed my lack of experience  I have thought about saving for a norman but the only way I would use it is if I could still get wheel blur. I am not sure it is worth it because personally I like the look of Bosscats photos taken with out the flash so maybe I will just save up for better lenses!

There are tons of guys that just keep shooting with flash even when its dusty, and these guys have been around the infields for years.

Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe

The shot of the black #7 car was taken with it at last years Canadian Sprint Car National. I made a 16x20 print of a few of those 135L shots and it just has a drool factor about it. And its an awesome lens for headshots, and portraits too!

And sometimes they can still get acceptable results even with a flash when it is dusty.

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem.
