I downloaded several cards worth of images into IPhoto on my IMac before I had LR3 insalled, now when I try to import from iPhoto i get a no pictures found message? Can see them in iphoto but LR3 does not see them? Upgraded to LR3 from elements and also switched from PC to Mac so am learning a lot but cannot figure this out. Thanks

I'm not a Mac user, so can only ask general questions. Doubtlessly a Mac/LR user will be along with more help!

Can you locate the image files using a system file/folder browser? Lightroom sets up its Folders based on your hard drive folder setup. If you need to import images, you will need the folder "known" by Lightroom which is other done durning an Import process or done in the Folders panel by doing an Add process and browsing to the needed folder.

So, to help people help you, please give details of what you are doing and have done and what you see in your system and in Lightroom.

By the way, I've heard that iPhoto has its own little ways of managing photos, and you are not along in having difficulties migrating from iPhoto to other photo apps. As you can see, Lightroom also has its "little ways" that are different from other photo apps. That's what gives each app some of the capabilities -- it's the things that are different. But, of course there is that dang learning curve that can be a headache!

Tried using finder but cannot locate a folder with the images I am looking for, there must be a solution, just haven't found it yet. Three days in Smoky Mountain National Park last spring! Can see them in iPhoto, so frustrating, so close and can't get them into LR!

Have you tried a Spotlight search for the filename?

I think the images by default should be somewhere in ~/Pictures/

In LR, hit the Import buttom (in Library) and, in the Imort module on the left side you can navigate to where your folders and files are.
