Hi, I'm leaving for a trip to the caribbeans in 2 weeks and I want to bring my camera gear (although carrying a point and shoot sounds great when you have kids). I thought it would be good to pick up a tripod to practice taking shots of the waves and so I can be in some of the pictures as well. As I'm already bringing more gear than I normally travel with, I'm thinking of getting the Gorillapod Focus with ball head. Does anyone else have suggestions for a compact, inexpensive, lite, travel tripod? I've read elsewhere someone had suggested a bean bag but that may be limited as far as where you can use that.
I have a 60D, with either a Sigam 17-50 or Canon 17-200 lens and possibly the 580EX flash. I'm not sure how much all that would weigh, but the focus supports up to 11lbs.
I just did some more reading, based on this article from engadget, this tripod is heavy: http://www.engadget.com …us-and-ballhead-x-review/![]()
Shipping weight on Amazon says 2 lbs. Hmm...is that really heavy?
Thanks!
