Which combo would you find most useful with a 5DII?

I already have the 50 and a 70-300L and a 7D. I would sell my 24-105 with any option.

The fast wide prime (24 or 35) would be for indoor action shots like people playing rock band, socializing, etc.I would also use it for outdoor portraits but mostly it would be for inside as the 17-40 is not fast enough.

Keep your 24-105mm, then get the 24L and 50mm f/1.4

Keep the 24-105 instead of getting an 85 prime, then? Hadn't considered that, but I will thanks. Already have the 50 1.4.

for your shooting style, a 24/50/135 or 35/85/135 setup seems to be great! - sell the rest!

I prefer 35L on full frame(or 24mm on crop), 35mm's a great focal length for semi-wide angle people shots. Won't have to get as close as you would with the 24mm to get that super shallow dof(getting too close to people w/24mm=big noses)

If I have to commit: 35 FTW, I love this focal length, very versatile!

If budget allows, and each lens gets it usage in practical field (Like a person actually gets to utilize his tool for events, traveling, photoshoot or w/e). I think standard zoom + telephoto + 35L/85 is good enough. Maybe 17-40 + telephoto + 35L&85 works too.

35L for full frame, 24L for crop.

I think I will do 17-40, 35L, 50 1.4, 70-300 and sell my 24-105. In the future I may get an 85 if I feel I am lacking at that FL. I like my 50 outside (too narrow inside) and I will just lose 100 bucks if I sell it so I'll just keep it.

Thanks for all the input!

I just randomly went to this thread :)

I might really miss the 35L later on. if the 24-105 and 16-35II doesn't fit my style, another 35L might come back :)

Good luck.

Best,
MC
