Another "Which Lens?" Topic

Hey everyone! So I have a 30D with a Takumar SMC 55 f/1.8 I use a lot for people shots, but I was thinking of getting something wider for walk around. I have a budget of $400.

i was thinking of getting the 35 f/2 since it would give me something more "normal" but i was wondering if you guys had any other opinions on what would be good.

i like primes by the way. i would be using the lens for mostly street shooting (not really street photography but just on the streets in general). if at all possible i would like it to supplement the 55 i have for portraits too.

i know my budget is tight for my needs but i'm just wondering. thanks in advance.

I think the 35 f/2 would be a good choice if you want to go wider. Another good choice would be the 85mm 1.8, it's good for street photography, but not wide.

In your budget, thats pretty much the only choice. The sigma 30 1.4 is better, but costs ~$90 more than your budget.

The 35 f2 is meant to be a pretty good little lens, well worth the money, so I doubt you'd regret buying it.
