So I've posted these a couple other places like the 60D thread, but I'm kind of proud of them so I thought some others might like to take a look. I was just taking long exposures and hoping for some luck. The second pic is my fav and it was captured at the end of a 8 second exposure. I had turned around to look above me to see a airplane and was about to let off the remote when I saw a flash on the other side of me. I let of the remote right after the flash and this is what I had captured. This second pic made the news. My mom also works at a local print shop, she had made some prints for me and people that have seen them there want copies. How much should I charge for a 11x17 print?

That second one is super. Looks like the town is under an alien attack from space. We NEVER get lightning storms like that.

These are some very cool images - great job.

However, #1 and #2 look like they might be just a tad over-sharpened...you can see the borders around the lightning where your sharpening tool tried to create too much contrast. But, a small nit - great captures!

Awesome! Man you got some really special shots here. As for pricing, check out photographers handbook (google it) on how much charge etc.

Come with me...i'll take you places.

These look almost too perfect to be real---no noise at all and almost perfect symmetry. Great work bw!

Fantastic stuff. I love that you framed them to retain some context.

That last one is amazing! I too am distracted by the over-sharpening of 1 and 2.

Yes, the second pic does look super clear and wish the 3rd had worked out that way, but you can see the storm had moved in a little closer and the wind had kicked up You can see the dust against the lights and If you look to the right where the dust hadn't gotten to the the lights they still look a little clear. Especially to the bottom right of the pic. Yes, I may have over sharpened a bit, but it was intentional since I wanted to try and make the lightning look just as clear as the city lights. Maybe I'll go back and adjust that a little. Thanks for the comments it helps me correct the things that I over think. I thought it looked a little over done, but decided to go with it. Now I know I went a little overboard.

This wasn't taken near Draper was it? When I visit, I like to look over the city from there.

Nope, this was about 15-20 min. north of there. I just went back into flickr and geo tagged this on the map so you can see how far it is from there.

Dr D, I think they are great pics. I have looked for a way to get some nice lightning shots. They won't come to me, so I guess I have to go to the lightning
