In the "Talk about photography" section, under 'General Photography', there are some sticky topics which should get you started. Then take some pictures and post them here in Critique. You'll get comments on how to improve what you did.

The Critique Corner deals with all levels - put on your thick skin suit and post them up....most folks here will try to help at any level.

Best thing to do is post what you think is your best picture.

What is the motive for this thread? To have only noobs post photos and have only "advanced photogs" give critique? or to have only noobs post photos and have only noobs give critique? or... is it to have "advanced photogs" only post their photos and have only noobs give critique? (the last one would be funny to watch, lol.)

We don't have "Beginner" sections, either for photo sharing or for equipment, because practically nobody but people who consider themselves "beginner" would go there. Rather than thinking you need to go to the "Critique Corner" to get criticism, try posting in the photo sharing area most appropriate for the content on your photo, and explain what you're asking for (technical suggestions, composition, processing, . . . ) in the way of answers. Some people will disregard the specifics of your request and give (what seem to you) completely irrelevant answers - just ignore them (or thank them for responding, without addressing the content of their responses) as they ignored the specifics of your request if they're too far off base. But they may offer suggestions in areas you hadn't thought about, so at least glance through them.

In addition to the excellent suggestions quoted (which may be exactly why Jon is a mod), I suggest you go to the forums that talk about your specific model of camera, as well as those that deal with lenses that might be appropriate. I've learned so much in those type of forums, and people will bend over backwards to be helpful and to give you a pat on the back.

:) Anne
