I searched and it there is no specific thread for posting cosplay photos. So I created one.

Cosplay: people dress up as fictional characters, and try to portray them as truthfully as they can. For contests, it is generally required that they make the costume themselves ; they're judged on both costume and performance.

Something I'd like to ask. What do you guys do to get great shots in conventions when there is nothing nice in the area that you can have an awesome shot?

I guess I'll start first. One thing I'd like to ask is you put down the origin of the character and its name above the photo if you know them. Thanks.

- When I arrive at the con, I scout for less crowded areas with a neutral background (white walls, staircases, whatever). When I find a worthy cosplayer I bring him there.
- I try to avoid mixed lights (fluorescent alone is okay ; fluorescent + daylight = white balance nightmare)
- Whenever possible I use a prime lens at wide aperture, will blur every (bonus point : wider aperture = lower ISO)
- post-processing !

From studio shoots I did for Objectif Costumes (an association I'm a part of) during Japan Expo (Paris, France, June 30th-July 3rd ; basically the largest con in Europe).
We had a booth and did free 15-minutes photoshoots for attendees.
My favorites from the first day :
