remote switch extension?

Can the Canon Remote Switch RS-60E3 be used with an extension?
I could buy one for the 10D's remote but canon doesn't list one
for the XT.

Is it as simple as an extension from Radio Shack?

If you check it, the three-pin connector is very special.

The best solution for cheapness is to buy some of the cheap Chinese cords from Adidt. Then cut one in the middle and add your own wires of any length.
