Yup. My two bodies now sport 12.8Mpixels and 10.1Mpixels. Good-bye unnecessarily large files and excessive noise.
Most likely I will be buying a 30d down the road to complement my FF and 1.3x crop.
Anyone else give up on the megapixel race?

It aint the count of pixels rather the size of the sensor..and the lens.

At lower iso's this may be true, but I found at the higher iso's (where I spend a lot of my time) the cropped, high density sensors don't cut it for me. But to each their own. xgender.net

Computers are only getting faster...I'd rather have larger files with more capabilities than smaller files that are more constrained in what you can do with them. Now, is that for everybody? I guess not, but honestly, how are you going to give up... I mea, what are you just going to keep buying older bodies, so that you can stay where you are? The industry isn't going to hold back, so if you make a conscious decision to do as you have, then you're basically going to have to "ride the coattailas" for awhile, until eventually your equipment dies and you'll be forced to upgrade anyways. So, I kind of fail to see the point? If you're just saying that you're happy with your current gear and don't feel compelled to upgrade right now, I understand that. Specifically, I just went from an 18mp, 1.6x sensor to a 10mp 1.3x sensor and I couldn't be happier. If I were doing landscapes for a living, then I would want more pixels and a larger sensor, as in medium or large format. xgender.net

ToddLambert I don't like titles More info | Aug 19, 2011 14:16 | #15 Yeah, I'm going to be investing in a couple of 5Dc bodies myself, just because they're great cameras for low light work and they're becoming increasing cheaper... I'd like to get a 5D3(or 1Ds4/5), keep my 5D2, and pick up two more 5Dc... that would be ideal.
